Emma Collingwood mailing list

1 May, 2009 at 7:32 pm (Uncategorized)

Hello my dears

I’ve lost the content of my mailbox thanks to this genius of a provider… so now I’m in the process of setting up my mailing list again. If you would like me to add your address, please either post it here, send me a message via LJ or mail to emma at emmacollingwood.com

Please note: you will ONLY receive a mail from me if a new book is out. I’ll neither contact you about articles I’ve written, essays, politics, fanfic, chainletters nor any other thing that is not “hey, my new book is out!”. So we’re talking about a maximum of ten mails per year. Don’t fear the spam!

Thanks for your support.

Emma :-)

Service Announcement

20 October, 2008 at 9:41 pm (Uncategorized) ()

My websites are down. No idea why, no idea for how long. I’m not amused! So if you can’t access any stories or if pictures on my journal/blog don’t show up, then that’s why.

Let’s twiddle thumbs and wait.

Fare thee well, oh facebook…

6 February, 2008 at 10:26 am (Uncategorized)

… I shall leave you and never return. That aside, I still haven’t figured out what you’re really good for in the first place, you overhyped little thing, you.

Means: I will close down my account on facebook; I really think I need it as much as a second head. I have LJ and WordPress and the yahoo group, I think that’s enough socialising for the time being. :-)

Riz and Pam, we’ll stay in touch through good ol’ email.

Shop tester wanted!

26 November, 2007 at 3:51 pm (Uncategorized)

I'm working on the last bugs of the online shop. It should be available for testing by latest Wednesday, and now I need victims who are willing to test Ye Olde Shoppe. :-)

If you should do one or more of the following things

- work on an apple

- surf with netscape, opera, safari or konqueror

- surf on dial-up

- have a small screen (800 x 600)

- have a very large screen (over 1440 x 900)

please drop me a line or leave a message here with your email address and what point(s) on the above-mentioned list you'd like to test.

The shop will be fully functional, but of course none of the orders will be real – I won't send you an invoice!

I need to know if you find the shop easy to navigate, if there are any bugs, if something is missing, difficult to understand etc. Criticism and suggestions are highly welcome!

(Please keep in mind that I have the programming skills of a gnat…)

Thanks a bunch in advance for your help!

I’ve made port!

25 November, 2007 at 6:16 pm (Uncategorized) ()

And there’s still so much to do…

  • setting up the shop (in three currencies – hellish!)
  • figuring out how wordpress works
  • heralding to the world that my book is out
  • holystoning the deck

Time for some port wine…!

"Samuel Blackwood" now available on Amazon Germany!

14 November, 2007 at 8:13 pm (Uncategorized)

The first book of the “Penny, Dreadful & Tarbottom” series has set sail and will hopefully soon make port in your mailbox!

The book will be available through my website in about ten days from now. I learned today that ye merry folks who are customers of Amazon Germany can already place orders for “Lieutenant Samuel Blackwood (deceased)” through – yes, you guessed it – Amazon Germany.

Delivery time for orders will very likely be the same for both direct sale and Amazon, but if you combine orders, you can save a bit of money if you order through Amazon.

“Lieutenant Samuel Blackwood (deceased)”
by Emma Collingwood
Illustrations by Amandine de Villeneuve

Amazon states a delivery time of “2 to 5 weeks”, but ten days to two weeks would be more realistic.

I will sell the book as soon as I have it here on stock, so if you order through my website once the shop is online, I will ship immediately.

The book will become available through Amazon UK in about two weeks. I'll keep you posted!

Buy, my pretties, buy!

I'm very tempted…

24 October, 2007 at 12:18 am (Uncategorized)

… to spend my holidays here:

COLLINGWOOD HOUSE

I'd take my first mate (unless the first mate should cry mutiny, which is likely), Mlle de Villeneuve and Miss Eveiya with me (and my laptop, of course). Where else but there could I finish “Jackdaw”?

Very tempted. Very.

Release date, price and assorted musings

17 October, 2007 at 3:19 pm (Uncategorized)

I can finally give you what you all wanted to know:

THE PRICE OF YE OLDE BOOKE!

“Lieutenant Samuel Blackwood (deceased)”
A Georgian Ghost Story

by Emma Collingwood
Illustrated by Amandine de Villeneuve
The Penny, Dreadful & Tarbottom Series
80 pages, four illustrations

ISBN 978-3-837-00964-4
(you can't place orders yet, though – but soon!)

EUR 6.00
GBP 4.00
USD 8.50

plus p + p. Prices might change due to changing currency rates.

And to prevent possible “but that's so expensive! I get 800 pages for three quid down at the newsagent's! Pirates!” complaints: there's a difference between printing 100'000 books and the 127 we hope to sell. Thanks for your understanding (and your money).

The book will be available first through my website, but eventually also through Amazon. Main method of payment will be paypal, but if you'd rather not use that service, drop me a line, I'm certain we can work something out.

The second book of the “Penny, Dreadful & Tarbottom” series will be called “Jackdaw”. I'm halfway through the first draft and very much in love with the main character. Scheduled for release in March 2008.

“The Purser, The Surgeon, The Captain And His Lieutenant” is currently undergoing a thorough editing process and will hopefully be available in the beginning of 2008.

If you should have any questions, please post them here or send a mail to emma at emmacollingwood.com.

That's all so far, have a lovely day!

Release date / Facebook

23 September, 2007 at 2:31 pm (Uncategorized)

Due to the illness of Miss Collingwood, the release date of “Lieutenant Samuel Blackwood (deceased)” will now be October. Messrs. Penny, Dreadful and Tarbottom apologise for the small delay, and thank you for being so understanding.

Also, Miss Collingwood has been coaxed into joining Facebook. Just look for Emma Collingwood; you will recognise the icon and the lack of activity. Feel free to friend her.

Last but not least you might be interested in learning that Miss Collingwood has started writing the second “Penny Dreadful” after “Lieutenant Samuel Blackwood (deceased)” for Penny, Dreadful and Tarbottom, which will be called “HMS Jackdaw”. The story will feature a rather eccentric Captain and should please the gingerphiles among you.

Thank you for your attention.
